Together in Textiles is a collaborative art project that will be unveiled at the ‘Style Acre: Celebrating 30 Years’ exhibition this summer at Cornerstone Arts.
Style Acre is a local charity that supports over 170 adults with learning disabilities and autism in Oxfordshire. This year we will be celebrating 30 years of making a difference and will be sharing our story and celebrating the art, stories and photos of the people we support at the ‘Style Acre: Celebrating 30 Years’ exhibition
Style Acre Charity started in Brightwell-cum-Sotwell in 1995 and derives its name from the original house ‘Style Acre’ which was built in 1904. It was originally a private house and later became a home for adults with learning disabilities. In 2004 the house was sold and the money was used to buy houses in the community. Style Acre now has 37 supported living houses, 3 community hubs and 5 social enterprises that provide work and volunteer opportunities for the people we support.
Throughout Style Acre there is a great sense of community and a passion for creativity. As we approach our 30th year we wanted to bring people we support together to contribute to a piece of art that celebrates being part of the Style Acre community and to share their art, stories, memories and photos to the local community, friends, families and supporters.
Together in Textiles is a collaborative art project that will celebrate and bring together those within Style Acre, encourage teamwork, promote creativity and allow people to learn more about how to incorporate mindfulness into creative activities.
If you have a memory, story or a photo about Style Acre that you would like to share or a piece of art that celebrates our 30 years of making a difference, please get in touch at info@styleacre.org.uk. www.styleacre.org.uk
