Fruit Cakes - A Monthly Queer Meet Up

Saturday 9 Nov 2024 to Saturday 14 Dec 2024

Tags: Community

This is a casual meet up for all queer and LGBTQ+ people. Whether you’ve been out and proud for years, or are just beginning to question your identity, you’re welcome here.

This is a safe space for you to have coffee, eat cake, meet new people, and make new friends. Our team is happy to greet you and introduce you to other people. We’re easy to spot - we’ll be behind the front desk at the table with all the mini pride flags!

FAQ

Do I have to be queer / LGBTQ+ to attend?

Not at all, but you need to respect that this is a space by and for queer people. Avoid assuming anything about a person’s gender or sexuality. Here is a handy guide on how to be an ally to trans and gender non-conforming people: https://www.glaad.org/transgender/allies

Do I need to book?

Not at all, you can just drop in whenever! If you’re nervous or have any questions you’re welcome to message us on social media or email tartproductionsox@gmail.com beforehand.

Why is this space necessary?

There aren’t a great deal of LGBTQ+ events in Didcot. We need safe, inviting spaces where we can express ourselves without fear of harassment and be celebrated for what makes us different.

ACCESSIBILITY

Cornerstone is fully accessible for patrons with wheelchairs; we have a lift to all floors, spaces for wheelchairs in the auditorium and accessible toilets on all floors.

Disabled parking is available at the top of Station Road, next to the Cineworld Cinema, in front of Boots the Chemist on Broadway and in the Edinburgh Drive car park.

There are accessible, gender-neutral toilets on all floors and the main toilets are on the ground floor behind the box office.

If you have any specific accessibility requirements please get in touch on tartproductionsox@gmail.com. For further information on the venue’s accessibility, please click here: https://www.cornerstone-arts.org/visitor-access

POLICY

This is an inclusive space that welcomes people of all ages (16+), genders, sexualities, races, religion and identities.

We will not tolerate any kind of homophobia, transphobia, sexism, racism, ableism, fatphobia, biphobia, femmephobia, interphobia, or non-consensual touching. Any behaviour of this sort will result in expulsion from the event. Treat everyone with respect and we'll send that love right on back to you
